Yester'morrow

Society has long since moved past the need of gods yet they are worshiped anyways. It’s commonly believed that the gods have died, but how or why is up for debate. Their history and legacy is preserved in many villages, towns, and cities with extra care, leaving their descendants behind to pass on their stories.

One day an old burial ground is discovered and believed to be the original resting place of the god of memory.Though what was supposed to be just a simple exploration turned into a tomb raid.Who knew that disturbing a sleeping god would have consequences? Angered with the thieves that stole from them, the god has tasked you with retrieving the stolen goods. Disappoint them further, and they shall take your memories one by one.

Information

This page discusses information about things in Ergo that is different from normal Dungeons and Dragons.

GODLY DESCENDANTS

As long as the gods have been dead, there have been circles of people that remain devoted to a specific god. While there were many minor gods, there were eight primary gods that were once worshiped. From those eight gods came eight different descendants that guided people and taught them ways of their patrons. Though of those eight groups, only seven exist today. The eighth group, the descendants and worshipers of the god of memory, have all disappeared years ago, not a single trace left behind. It's unclear if all these lineages were directly born from a god, or if some of them were created. Time has marred the origins.

CURRENCY

"Time is money"

Ergo has it's own currency system. There are three different types of "notes" within their currency.Gears, hands, and dials.Gears are the lowest value. Hands are the second highest, while dials are the highest value.

As time is a big important theme in Ergo, the money was modeled after clocks a long time ago. Gear coins, Hand notes, and Dial disks come in many different shapes, but they all have the same monetary value. The shape of the note depends on the year it was manufactured, the design changes every year, so it's easy to tell when a note was produced. All notes have a stamp on them that indicates that it's a note rather than a actual clock hand or gear.

OTHER REALMS

Other "realms" do exist in Olim, however they exist differently to RAW Dungeons and Dragons. The Faewilds and the Shadowfell do exist, but they are not alternate planes of existence. They are physical places within the world, and are more like biomes. Ergo lacks any Faewilds and Shadowfell. The Hells do not exist within this campaign, and races that reference this realm has lore rewritten.

RACES

Tieflings were said to be created by the hand of Fenwick. The origin myth goes that a mortal once bartered with Fenwick, doing a deed for the good for a divine reward. However when the quest was complete and Fenwick offered the reward, the mortal accidentally touched the god, resulting in a infernal curse.Aasimars are typically descendants of the gods, or are/were favored by them.Harengon/Tabaxi are made to be more humanoid. Both having patron minor gods. It's said that Harengons and Tabaxi are favored souls of their respective minor gods.

Locations

Located in between the Lamcord and Chainside Ocean sits Ergo, a continent in the Olim Realm. Ergo is a continent that was once beholden to dearly cherished gods and mourns their loss even thousands of years after they have disappeared.Despite the loss of their patrons, many cities are still influenced by their former archons. Ergo has seven primary cities led by a godly descendant, each with their own way of life and perspective.

MAJOR CITIES

GLACIDUS VILLAGE

The people of Glacidus never leave the mountain, never interact with the outside, and remain wholly devoted to their god. From the few who choose to leave and explore life outside the mountain their accounts tell of a village “magically blessed by their god.”Some of the best warlocks, clerics, and paladins have descended from that village. A few bards have been noted to be from the village too, taking with them the ancient fantastical stories passed down through generations.

THECARIUS

Thecarius is a town that is buried within the heart of dense woods, surrounded by tall pines it is almost guarded from the rest of the world. Many wandered who attempt to find the city end up lost, but that’s simply because they never look up.A town known for its clerics and druids, it’s practically the medical capital of the world. They say almost anything can be cured there, even death itself. It’s rumored that they’ve brought back the dead, but who knows how.

MOIRA

To say that Moria is a lawless city is not exactly wrong. Moria used to be a town called Phila, however it was taken over by a rogue faction of paladins lead by a descendant of Fenwick and remains in their hands still. It has since blocked itself off from the world and sees no visitors. Nothing comes in, nothing comes out. There’s little word that comes from Fenwick, however the stories from the lips who have made it out never say anything good. The most infamous of rogues credit their skills to their upbringing within the walls.

ESTERIAN

Esterian is a large city towards the eastern coast of Ergo, there’s many buildings made of marble and tons of old (practically defunct) churches. It’s a peaceful city, more so than anywhere else. Some say it’s because the grace of Rhexnor is still with the people, others simply state that folks are kinder here. While there are clerics, druids, and paladins that have all earned their place in the legends with origins from Esterian, there are plenty of sorcerers how accompany them too.

BIBAY CITY

Bibay is a flourishing city nowadays, it takes up the entire Kanlura coastline of Ergo. Practically all the trade for the continent happens here. Bibay has mastered the art of exports and imports, and is also the shipping center of the continent. What once was a humble beach town is now the entire Kanlura coast of Ergo, bound together by their ties to one another. The continents best rangers often come from here.

KOSE

Kose is an old city rooted in deep tradition. There is honor to be had in the responsibilities each family carries. Though perhaps that honor is carried to far, as duty is the pinnacle of society. Many paladins, monks, and fighters are born from the Vinalo Coliseum, there are many heroes who became champions within its walls. Their fights are the stories of legend, and winners remain larger than life figures. The losers though? A fate worse than death probably.

BICHESTER

Bichester cherishes the pieces of the past that it finds in forms of monuments, public museums, and universities. It’s a quaint town with its own history to boast, and despite the thousands of years seemingly everyone can recite it.It’s no secret that practically every resident is a scholar in their own right, perhaps that’s what happens when you come from a town with deep history. Many wizards and artificers boast origins from here.

SESSION

Session 1

March 1st, 2026

"I need a hope I can't deny"

What was supposed to be a day of celebration quickly turns sour. The land of Ergo has long asked what happened to the gods, where they went, and if they're around now.The morning was supposed to yield answers for many long standing questions. Architects from Bichester uncovered a ancient tomb said to be the resting place of the seven gods, though what they found they can't even recall. In the scramble that ensued, the tomb was robbed of ancient artifacts leaving many panicked and worried. In the wake of a raided tomb, cities slowly come to the reality of events. The adventurers Xoco, Aiden, Quill, and Azure all find themselves witnessing partially strange events, and receiving bizarre gifts within the night. When morning comes they are summoned by descendants of Eliong, who plead and demand at the same time they help find the thieves who stole the artifacts. If not for them, then for the safety of Ergo. The two descendants say it should only be a week's journey, with the party begrudgingly agreeing.Their only lead is to find the amnesiac architects who uncovered the tomb, and the paladins who saw some of the fleeing thieves.

Session 2

TBD - Check back later. Scheduled in April!

Lore

TIME BEFORE

The gods were said to walk among the mortal kind, extending their hand and influence. They created strong bonds and ties with their clerics and paladins, guiding their warlocks. Perhaps mortals relied on the divine as much as the divine relied on mortal kind. The gods disappeared long ago, the best estimate is 500,000 years ago. There's no definitive records, only oral traditions passed down through some godly families.Perhaps that's the strangest thing about the gods. For something so divine, so noticeable, it seems history forgot to write down that they had even departed.

TIME OF MORTALS

The gods are gone, but no one knows exactly how or why they disappeared. It’s generally debated by historians and academics, and continues to be a rather perplexing study. Was it a war? Was it by choice? Did they suddenly just vanish? There are no marks to prove they were gone, that there was some kind of fight, there's nothing at all.No one can say for certain what happened. There are certain groups of people that seem to have pieces of the story, but no one has been able to fit them together.Nowadays, most people just believe the gods have died. Afterall, it's been years of silence. Why think otherwise?

LOST DEVOTEES

It's now commonly believed that clerics, warlocks, and paladins all garner their magic and power from the last living descendants of the gods. After all, if the gods are believed to be dead, how can you still gain power from them? And yet, there are a few individuals who swear that their oaths and pacts are not beholden to the demigods, but still to the gods themselves. Researchers dismiss these stories as impossible.
